About Troy
There is no substitute for doing the work. Troy has spent thirty years at the bench. He learned by making mistakes and fixing them. He learned by watching masters and asking questions.
Antique furniture requires a specific mindset. You cannot rush. You cannot force the wood. You must listen to what the piece needs. Sometimes that means a full restoration; other times, it means a simple cleaning.
Philosophy
Modern manufacturing builds for the landfill. We build for the next generation.
A proper finish is not a plastic shell. It is a layer of protection that allows the wood to move and breathe. Shellac, tung oil, wax. These are the tools of the trade. They require maintenance, but they offer a depth that lacquer cannot match.
The Process
Every project begins with an assessment. We check the joints. We identify the wood species. We test the existing finish.
Work is done by hand. Stripping is gentle. Sanding is minimal to preserve the surface history. Color matching is done by eye, not by computer codes.
The result is furniture that looks cared for, not new.
